Board Member, Sudanese Christian Church

My name is Afaf Mahmoud, a devoted Christian leader and active board member of the Sudanese Christian Church. My life is marked by steadfast service, compassionate ministry, and a deep love for the church family. Born and raised in Sudan, I grew up with a heart for service and a strong Christian faith.

Early on, I sensed God’s calling to support the church not just as a congregant, but as someone who could help build and sustain ministries. Over time, I accepted leadership roles, always seeking to contribute my gifts, time, and energy to further God’s work.

In my role on the Church Board, I play a vital part in guiding the church’s direction, ensuring that both spiritual growth and practical operations remain aligned. I have been instrumental in organizing conferences and services, overseeing planning, logistics, and coordination of church-wide events, retreats, and special services.

Known for my hands-on approach, I am often on the frontlines of pastoral care—visiting the sick, counseling those in need, helping new members integrate, and supporting volunteer teams. I also have a particular passion for children and youth, designing curriculum, training Sunday School teachers, and fostering a nurturing environment where young ones can grow in faith.

I lead with humility, compassion, and diligence, believing in servant-leadership that models Christ’s love by listening, encouraging, and guiding. My organizational skills, warm relationships, and commitment to excellence have earned respect across generations in the church.

I strive to bridge generations by encouraging elders to share wisdom while empowering youth to take initiative. My vision is for a Sudanese Christian Church that is vibrant, inclusive, and outward-focused, where every member, young and old, discovers their gifts and serves boldly in God’s kingdom.

I’m Badi Kissinga Tandia, I have faithfully accepted God’s call to serve the Sudanese Christian Church in Diaspora, Denver, Colorado, as a devoted board member. My ministry is rooted in compassion, hospitality, and a deep desire to support the body of Christ.

With a particular heart for refugees and immigrant families, I dedicate myself to ensuring that those who are new or old to the community find a welcoming home in the church. This includes offering practical assistance and spiritual encouragement so that no one feels left out of fellowship in the house of God.

One of my primary services has been helping those without transportation, especially new arrivals, by picking them up and dropping them off for Sunday worship and other church activities. By doing so, I ensure that they can participate fully in the spiritual and social life of the congregation.

I also serve as an usher, welcoming members and visitors with warmth, guiding them to important areas within the church, and creating a sense of order and belonging.

Additionally, I assist in securing the church building during services and conferences, helping to maintain an environment where all can worship in peace and safety.

Beyond these roles, I am deeply committed to supporting the spiritual growth of children in the church. I help guide Sunday school kids during their lessons, working alongside teachers to foster a nurturing environment where they can grow in knowledge and faith.

Whether through transporting families, ushering visitors, or caring for the next generation, I view each task as an act of service to God and His people.

History of the Church

The Sudanese Christian Church in Denver, Colorado, was founded in 2015 by a devoted Sudanese Christian with a vision to build a Christ-centered spiritual home for the Sudanese diaspora and all believers seeking fellowship and truth in Jesus Christ.

From humble beginnings, the church has grown into a vibrant faith community dedicated to worship, discipleship, and service.
